Careers
Paid Employment
Due to the very niche nature of our work, full time, paid positions are rarely available. We work closely with cherry picked freelance animal professionals who we typically employ on an ad hoc basis as sub contractors. If you have animal experience, relevant qualifications and are looking for flexible/occasional work, email your cv to reptilesetc@outlook.com
Volunteer Opportunities
We currently have opportunities for volunteers available, primarily to join and assist lead rangers on educational outreach assignments including live events and parties, though assisting with filmwork is also a possibility. Volunteer opportunities would ideally suit a student looking to gain hours and experience to contribute to a college course or for CV building, but you don't have to have a qualification to apply if you have existing experience keeping exotics, or teaching for example. Passion is the most important quality!
Candidates must be confident speaking and engaging with people of all ages, have an outgoing personality, hard working ethic and be willing to learn. Candidates must have a reasonable level of physical fitness and be able to spend a long day on their feet and above all, be passionate about animals, conservation and education. Candidates will be required to handle invertebrates and reptiles so existing experience will be useful but not essential as full training will be given. You must have your own transport in order to get to locations or the Reptiles Etc base- sometimes at very unsociable hours!
For students seeking regular work experience taking part in animal care as well as outreach/events there is the possibility of joining us at our base to help with daily animal care duties, where you have the chance to gain husbandry and handling skills with a variety of taxa including birds, fish/aquatics, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and invertebrates. Skills records are provided to log your hours and learning, plus certificates of attendance at the end of any programme or period of time with us, as well as references for your portfolio.
Send a CV and cover letter to Grace at reptilesetc@outlook.com to introduce yourself.
